Faculty Member, History

About
I am a specialist in late-medieval France with broad interests and experience in the pre-modern world - particularly in the fields of legal history and women’s history.
My research in primary sources has focused principally on the application and effects of canon law on women and families in pre-modern Europe. Nevertheless, I am not a lawyer and my work is not intended as technical work in canon law. Instead, I aim to place problems in pre-modern family law against the background of culture, politics, and society, in the effort to create a rounded picture.
